Swype Beta Trial
Today I have managed to download the beta application of Swype for a Nexus One and will be putting through its paces and comparing to normal touch screen text input. As someone who sends over 1000 texts every month the idea of an application to help speed up this process is most welcome and Swype appears to be the answer. I have only just installed the application and will be giving some feedback in a few days time once I have managed to master the technique to make the head to head fair.

Altek Leo – 14mp camera and HD recording
There’s not much chance of this one appearing outside of Asia but the Altek Leo has definitely caught our eye. Powered by Android 2.1 it has a 14 megapixel camera with a pop-out 3x optical zoom lens so should, in theory, send your normal digital camera packing.

Public beta of Swype text entry system open for a few days
The soft input keyboards from Google and HTC are both quite good, but I personally find Swype to be even better and faster for most text entry situations. You can sign up for the public beta for a limited time so go get it on your device

HTC Desire – Coming to America
We’ve just had word that the all conquering HTC Desire is due to travel to America very soon. Our sources state that the handset will be available in the US “via select regional operators” and it’ll be in shops as early as August. It’ll carry the same 1GHz CPU, Android 2.1 and Sense interface and HTC state that this is the “next step for HTC in bringing the power of Android to even more consumers” after the huge success of the HTC Hero in the States
