Double the RAM of the iPad for the iPhone 4
Just when you thought there was nothing else to know about the Apple iPhone 4 , along comes some more information! We’re talking about confirmation of the memory capacity of the new phone, something which Steve Jobs glossed over during his keynote speech at WWDC earlier this month. It’s not the first time either, as he completely forgot the same thing about the iPad and the 3GS too, however while customers don’t really need to know, developers do and that’s where the information has been found. The iPhone 4 will have a grand total of 512MB of RAM, which is double the amount powering the 3GS and the iPad. Why is this the case? Well, one can hazard a guess that iOS 4’s multi-tasking feature will need a fair bit to keep going, but since this is also coming to the iPad – which has 256MB – we would guess that the HD video and iMovie video editing will be eagerly tucking into the extra amount.

First ELSE Could Turn Out to have Nothing ELSE
Oh dear. Emblaze, lover of capitalised names, may not be releasing their interesting First ELSE mobile phone after all. We first covered the ELSE late last year and loved their flashy website and equally flashy new operating system, then took another look in February this year when they made an appearance at Mobile World Congress. It was here they re-iterated their intention of bringing out the phone during Q2 and that talks were under way with networks, but since then, nothing. With Q3 2010 a couple of weeks away, Engadget has published some worrying news. A contact in the industry has said their conversations with operators didn’t bear fruit and that the OS is still not complete, making any kind of release unlikely at present. Also, a call made to their offices saw them transferred to a lawyer’s voicemail at the mention of First ELSE – not something that could be considered a good sign.

Codenamed Talledega here, but also known as the Torch, we have seen the BlackBerry Silder several times before , but some further spec details for the future device. The screen will be a capacitive item with a 480
The Heart-Monitoring Mobile
Mobile phones are often described as vital, but it’s never had such a literal meaning than what the new “EPI Life” device offers. Unveiled at the excellently-named CommunicAsia conference, the small smartphone features all the usual refinements: light weight, touch screen, and of course an ECG machine instantly connected to a team of doctors. The “Health Concierge” service works when you hold your fingers to sensors on the sides of the phone: it reads your heartbeat before sending the data to a team of trained cardiologists

Clocks Are Pointless (Except For These Three)
Mobile phones have massively accelerated society. Now you can get annoyed at someone, call to demand they hurry up, and download the “ How To Stab A Friend And Get Away With It ” in less time than it takes them to open the door. Another effect is their conversion of watches from “ Useful if morbid reminder of how time is constantly ticking away ” into “ Pointless and expensive advertisement that this person doesn’t understand technology or, worse, is trying to show off with an overpriced wrist-strap .” But these three timepieces have decided to fight obsolescence, evolving into our electronic world to really tell us what time it is. 1.
