Looking For a Directory of Mobile Phone Numbers? Use a Cell Phone Lookup Site to Find What You Need

We all know that there is a directory for landline phones, the White pages, but is there a directory of mobile phones that we can search through in case we want to find the number of someone we are looking for? Unfortunately, due to privacy reasons, mobile phone numbers do not have their own directory that we can just go out in public and look through to find someone’s number.

Sony Ericsson Officially Announce the Aspen

The Aspen is the latest GreenHeart mobile phone from Sony Ericsson, and another to be blessed with a tree-related name.  GreenHeart, as you may know, is the manufacturer’s range of mobile phones with ‘green’ aspirations, coming as they do in minimal packaging with CD-based manuals and complete with eco-friendly, low-consumption chargers. Up until now, the GreenHeart phones have been regular candybars or sliders – the Elm, Hazel and Naite for example – but the Aspen has both a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard, plus plenty of other great features: 2.4″ 240

Living, Breathing, Shape-Shifting Mobile Phone

Mobile phone design researcher Fabian Hemmert has decided to ask an interesting question: how can we move mobile phones out of the realm of digital and into the physical world? Now you might be thinking that your mobile phone is already a physical, tangible item. It is, technically.

Virgin Target Parents

Virgin Media’s upcoming bundle will traumatise teenagers: they’re offering unlimited landline calls to mobile phones.  Of course both phones have to be Virgin, making this an “all-or-nothing” deal designed to take over your entire array of phones. While it’s advertised with all kinds of advantages, it’s obvious that this is meant to make money off worried mothers.  The most common combination of “has a landline” and “wants to call mobile phones really frequently” is worried parents, constantly checking up on their precious snowflake (while said snowflake has a phone of their own and is out late at an unknown location.)  But the first few conversations on the new connection could be strained by how the parent forced the kid to replace their phone with a Virgin model.

U Still Love Txt! SMS Messages Still Going Strong

It’s sometimes difficult to believe that a service which initially failed to catch on could become so widely used.  When SMS was introduced back in the mid-90s, very few messages were sent as the take-up of 2G GSM mobile phones was slow.  In fact, I recall selling phones such as the Motorola 7200 and discussing the benefits of digital over analogue, of which SMS was one, and almost no-one caring!  ‘Surely voice is the future of communication,’ I would hear, ‘and not a message limited to 140 characters?’ The Mobile Data Association’s latest report paints a very different picture to the indifference seen at its launch, as they quote a total of 96.8 billion SMS messages were sent during 2009 in the UK alone!  This figure is up from 2008’s total of 78 billion and up again over the 56 billion sent in 2007. The report also shares some Christmas Day and New Years Eve 2009 figures.  A mere 441 million messages were sent on the 25th of December, a drop in the ocean compared to the 874 million sent on over New Years Eve and Day!  The average 265 million sent each day puts these figures into perspective. Do you use SMS as an alternative to calling someone?  Is it the cost, the simplicity or the convenience that makes you do this, or another reason entirely?  Let us know in the comments! Post from Dial-a-Phone, UK’s no

DaP Dumbass Devices

Technology is responsible for everything good that ever happened.  Never mind the iPhone in your pocket, Michelangelo would never have had time to paint the Sistine Chapel if he’d had to hunt-and-gather his food every day, and without the advance of tools Mozart would have composed his concertos arranged for Grunt and Banging Rocks. Unfortunately not every use of human ingenuity is really useful, ingenious, or – if you apply a lower intelligence limit to the species – even “human.” 1.

Is Wow Mobile Doomed Already?

Peter Radizeski of RAD-INFO thinks Wow Mobile is doomed. To be fair, Peter is cynical but then again, he is right most of the time. In this case he thinks a MLM, get-rich scheme which sells mobile service has no chance — especially when you consider the history of MVNO failure in the US

Rates on International Calls to Mobile Phones

In many cases, the rates charged on international calls to mobile phones are substantially higher than the rate charged for the same call to a land-line. Therefore, when making international calls, callers should take care and read the fine print so they fully understand the rate charged for making a call to the type of phone they plan to call or they may receive an unpleasant surprise.

New Year Same Old Trend – Phone Card Sales Declining

Well we are now into the new year and I started to reflect on the past year and the year ahead. For the most part 2009 saw a substantial decline in overall phone card sales and I’m afraid we will continue to see the same trend throughout 2010. Prepaid Mobile phones with competitive international rates are only going to get more aggressive this year and with increased penetration of broadband in recent immigrant households, VOIP services like Skype and Vonage will also continue to errode the phone card market share

Harriet Harman Fined For Phoning Behind The Wheel

Anyone under the impression that mobile phone legislation isn’t enforced better buck up: Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman has been prosecuted for a no-injury “collision,” even though anything under five miles an hour is a “collision” in the same way a pet cat is a predator.  Talking on the phone, she managed to hit another carm, even at these sub-walking speeds – if nothing else, she proved that phones really do distract drivers.  And that absolutely anyone can be arrested for it

Intel Powerhouse LG GW990 Seen at CES, But Can it be Called a Phone?

Smartphones can access the Internet, send and receive email, log-in to our favourite social networks and a perform a stack of other functions, and as they’re wrapped up inside a device which more often than not, slips straight into our pocket when we’re done, they’re very convenient.  When you need something more, your options extend to a netbook or a hybrid like the Nokia N900, but convenience often suffers as a result. LG demonstrated another option for anyone who thinks their smartphone is too underpowered at CES in Las Vegas late last week.  Called the GW990, it stretches the smartphone definition further than ever before; just take a look at this spec list: A 4.8″ 1024

HTC Bravo Could Steal Nexus One’s Thunder in UK

The Bravo name may have passed you by during the whole Nexus One and HTC Passion excitement at the tail end of last year.  If it did, then here’s an update to bring you right up to speed with one of HTC’s most interesting phone releases currently expected this year.  Initially leaked as an entry under their ‘Performance’ banner on their 2010 product roadmap , the Bravo was linked with the Passion name, which in turn was linked to the Nexus One.  Well, as we know, the Nexus One turned out to be something else, and subsequent information revealed the Passion to be the US-name for the Euro-bound Bravo.  Clear?  We hope so! Anyway, back to the Bravo.   It may still be unconfirmed by HTC, but we have a good idea of what it’s spec sheet is going to look like: A 3.7″ OLED WVGA toucshcreen. The Qualcomm 1Ghz Snapdragon chipset.
