Nazi Literature in the Americas
The day military dictator Augusto Pinochet died, I captured some of his supporters on the digicam as they held vigil outside uptown Santiago’s Escuela Militar : Marc Cooper , former translator for Salvador Allende , also blogged Pinochet’s death and pointed to my video to corroborate the veracity of another nazi photo circulating at the time, which some of his readers had found hard to believe: Chileno provides us with a video of these same Young Nazis holding their own sort of sad Nuremberg street rally for Pinochet. Like most card-carrying fascists, they look both stupid and dangerous. Stupid for sure

Angel Investing in Santiago Valley
Santiago Valley is a play on words meaning Chilean Silicon Valley , it’s the title of a magazine article-turned-blog post by Chilean Internet heartthrob Leo Prieto that I first read in a Sanhattan dentist’s office, because at that point the dentist hadn’t yet attached flat-screen HDTVs to the waiting room walls and operating room ceilings, although by now they should be up. Leo reminds us once again that he was “there”, getting more hits for his Mac site in its first year than Yahoo in its first, and because he’s an industry leader we should believe him when he says that “there” is once again “here”.

Hugo Chavez (Re) Ig-nites Furor in Chile
So last March the entire continent of South America almost imploded in nuclear war because Columbia stole a laptop from Ecuador and then Bogota said that the laptop said that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez gave $300 million to terrorist organization Sierra Club FARC , and it’s all so fake that it’s true. Then it got even faker-truer because Interpol got Bogota’s back , and with a winner of a one-liner Chavez fired back calling Interpol’s secretary general Ronald Noble – are you ready? – “Mr

Chilean FrankenSalmon’s Friends and Foes
After the New York Times took a juicy Chilean FrankenSalmon by the tail and slapped it against the industry leaders , gringo supermarket chain Safeway stopped stocking the Chilean freakfish (reason given: it’s not the Times article, just that your salmon sucks), and Chilean Minister of Economy Hugo Lavados is trying to downplay the economic and image problems brought on by the racist, lying Times. But the article’s impact is real, and FrankenSalmon PR didn’t miss a beat: MIAMI, March 31 /PRNewswire/ — The Chilean Salmon Industry Association deeply regrets the numerous errors of the article, offering a biased view of our industry and product, which is consumed daily by over 6 million consumers worldwide.

Bill Would Ensure Customers Get Phone Minutes
AUGUSTA (AP) — Some consumers who use prepaid calling cards are finding out that they’re not getting all of the minutes they thought they paid for. But a bill that’s won the solid support of a legislative committee ensures that customers get all of the minutes they signed up for when they bought their cards. The issue came up last year, when the Maine Public Utilities Commission got complaints from a number of card holders who thought they had 1,000 minutes but were surprised to learn they only had 300 left

Some prepaid calling cards are no bargains
You might not get exactly what you’re paying for when it comes to using prepaid calling cards to reach out to family and friends, according to a new study by the Washington-based Hispanic Institute. It tested 45 international prepaid calling cards for efficacy and value, and found that the average card delivered only 60 percent of the minutes promised. A third of the 45 cards delivered the full call-time promised; seven, or 15.6 percent, didn’t work at all; and eight had call completion rates of 50 percent or less

Retailers call for cut in card charges
EAST of England businesses have joined national retailers in calling on banks to reduce their “prohibitive” plastic card charges as a survey revealed more than half of transactions are still in cash. The British Retail Consortium (BRC), which carried out a “cost of collection” survey, has claimed there is a drive by plastic card issuers to kill off cash, and condemned it as a “self-serving attempt to rake in millions more in charges”. The BRC said customers did not realise the “huge” sums retailers were charged for processing card payments.

Digressing to Life in General
Whilst on the sit on mower this morning, dealing with the long grass in the orchard and having just completed once again one of Tuesday Lobsang Rampas books “I Believe”, (and I shall cover this topic another time as I could ramble forever about this physic and author) I remembered all the controversy years ago surrounding this gentleman, and my mind wandered onto the subject of life in general. With the UK news recently highlighting the fact that they have now discovered a “fat” gene, it took me back many many years ago when I remember there was a huge outcry from experts who identified plastics that were used to contain food and drink products, having toxicological effects on the human body. Scientists concluded that eating and drinking from bottles made of plastic would over a period of time affect the genetic make up of the human body and both physical and mental aspects of sexuality would be affected, together with increase in cancer, and Alzheimer disease to name but a few

French Cheeses
Looking at our website we decided to do some more research and place another couple of pages of information on it, so I had this idea that I should list some French Cheeses on it which I thought would be interesting, so I set about researching this. Several months later, I was still researching, as I was not aware that France had over 500 cheeses, and I seemed to be living and dreaming Cheeses. Some were very difficult to research and took a lot of time, French markets helped quite a lot, but was not easy taking photographs from this source without getting some strange looks

Deserted Village
If you passed by a broken window, you will throw a stone on it, and if someone asks you why you’re doing this, you will answer spontaneously that: It’s already broken! Well that what our folks did in a night hiking trip between Qara and Jrajir, when we passed near the ruins of an old deserted village, they left all the places and pissed on it’s walls! -nobody’s living here anymore! –one of the hikers said- I think he’s right, somehow. The village is really a perfect place for shooting a movie or being transferred into a hotel, and it’s built in the old traditional way, or what’s left of it
