It is not often that tonnes of mangoes are crushed under a bulldozer and on Saturday, the Mormugao Municipal garbage yard at Headland Sada was filled with the golden liquid. Officials of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) destroyed nearly 12.5 tonnes of artificially ripened mangoes that were seized from three different storehouses at Khariwado shore, Vasco, around three days ago. A bulldozer crushes the artificially ripened mangoes at the Mormugao Municipal garbage yard at Headland, Sada. Two truckloads of Neelam class mangoes were dumped at Mormugao Municipal garbage yard at Headland, Sada, and were later crushed under the wheels of a bulldozer. Sid Barnett’s Machine Shop
Patrick Parrish was vacationing in North Carolina when he spotted this long-abandoned yet fully stocked machine shop : It looked like one day possibly in the 1960s or 70s that they just up and closed without even clearing off their desks. The window were so filty, but it looked AMAZING inside.

Happy birthday iPhone 3GS
A year ago today many of us were standing in line outside our local Apple Store waiting to get our geeky little hands on the iPhone 3GS , then king of the mobile space. Twice the speed, video recording, and VoiceControl were the killer features, even if the form factor was unchanged. Over the last twelve months, iPhone 3GS has served us well, and at its soon-to-be $99 price point, rocking iOS 4 , no doubt it will serve many budget smartphone shoppers well for another year to come.

How-To: Anodize aluminum
Ron Newman’s fantastic page on DIY room-temperature anodizing of aluminum parts was last revised in 2007, and looks like it may be significantly older than that. Ron’s selling a how-to book, now, and a bunch of anodizing supplies, from the same page, but to me it looks like there’s more than enough free info there already for a savvy person to figure it out for him- or herself

Start your streak and swing to win: iPhone apps of the week
(Credit: CNET) Probably like many people reading this blog post, I experienced firsthand the trouble Apple and AT&T had with the overwhelming number of preorders for the iPhone 4 on Tuesday. I thought I was being smart by deciding to skip the long lines and get the iPhone 4 delivered to my house, but I ended up getting nothing but errors after only the first few steps into the process. After several attempts, I decided to wait a couple of days before trying again and ended up buying the black 32GB model through Apple on Thursday

Judge recuses himself from Pacheco’s bail plea in Goa
Former Goa minister Mickky Pacheco’s bail plea in the case relating to his 28-year-old alleged lover’s death, could not be heard on Friday as a Bombay High Court judge recused himself from the hearing. In his bail application before the Panaji bench of the high court, the former tourism minister says that it is a “witch hunt” against him because of his “frank and forthright” comments on scams in departments directly governed by the chief minister and the home minister. Pacheco, who is ‘on the run’ along with his key aide Lyndon Monteiro, has said that he would be subjected to “third degree” treatment if he was arrested by the police

Double the RAM of the iPad for the iPhone 4
Just when you thought there was nothing else to know about the Apple iPhone 4 , along comes some more information! We’re talking about confirmation of the memory capacity of the new phone, something which Steve Jobs glossed over during his keynote speech at WWDC earlier this month. It’s not the first time either, as he completely forgot the same thing about the iPad and the 3GS too, however while customers don’t really need to know, developers do and that’s where the information has been found. The iPhone 4 will have a grand total of 512MB of RAM, which is double the amount powering the 3GS and the iPad. Why is this the case? Well, one can hazard a guess that iOS 4’s multi-tasking feature will need a fair bit to keep going, but since this is also coming to the iPad – which has 256MB – we would guess that the HD video and iMovie video editing will be eagerly tucking into the extra amount.
