My hotmail account had been dormant for past 7 years, and I logged into it just to see why everyone is raving about it – I have to say I came back un-impressed. For me, Hotmail was too sluggish in its loading of mails as well as other features

A white plastic “cube” * that is slightly bigger than a thumb tip protrudes from the top of an Android phone. This is Square , an accessory to the recently released Android version of an iPhone app (hands-on) that’s aiming to revolutionize personal mobile payments the way that PayPal first simplified payments online

LG Panther Gets Caught on Camera Again
The LG Panther is really the only Windows Phone 7 handset we’ve had a good look at since the OS was debuted at Mobile World Congress in February, and here it is again. This picture improves slightly on what we were treated to on video at the beginning of March, and gives a better impression of the size and construction of the phone. We already know the phone will have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but here we can see the Windows key clearly in the centre, with the back and search keys alongside

Google and Microsoft Telecom Failures: Lessons Learned
Let’s start this piece by saying it is meant to be constructive and that people who live in glass houses should never throw stones. Unlike many writers, I am also the CEO of a media company which means I get involved in lots of product launches myself – sometimes they are from my company TMC and sometimes they are with partners or even vendors in the industry who use our services to help them launch. Over the years, I have failed in some of my launches – and I feel what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and in an effort to utilize my collective experience to help others, I figured I would write about some of the areas where Google and Microsoft have tried to change telecom and failed

Google Buys GIPS – Here’s Why
When it comes to enabling technology, Google’s new mantra is its better to be needed than liked I first met the company called Global IP Sound around 2002 at TMC’s ITEXPO and Pulvermedia’s VON expos. What differentiated the company tome at first was the company’s ability to power wireless VoIP calls over PDAs – specifically Compaq iPAQs via a low-bandwidth codec. As you can imagine, at the time, the codec needed to not only be low-bandwidth due to the slow wireless connections but also had to be super-optimized because processors in PDAs at the time were not powerful.
