10 Digit Landline Number? Or 11 Digit Mobile Number? Your Call?

There was a talk before of the 10 digit numbers being exhausted and a new DoT directive which aimed at adding an additional 9 to mobile numbers thereby making the mobile numbers into 11 digit numbers. But as news has it the current 10-digit format would stay but instead of adding another 9 DoT would  open up digits 2 to 9 for mobile numbers.

Yahoo India To Power R&D At IITB

Indian Institutes have always had great students and professors and the IIT’s and IIM’s of this country have made a name for themselves in the world. But if there is one thing that Indian institutes have lacked is the research that is carried out in the western institutes like Stanford and Harvard especially in the technology field. To plug this area of concern and to initiate innovation within Indian campuses Yahoo India research and development has tied up with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) to provide a cluster of servers running Yahoo’s open source Hadoop software, and web data for research to the students.

It did get them coverage in the media and it seems Monster is set to follow the trend soon with their own employment index . To be fair to Monster they already have such a service running in US and European markets and this is just a geographical extension for them rather than a case of following Naukri’s footsteps.

Mobile number portability and TRAI: Suckers

As per the media reports, the mobile number portability is delayed because BSNL and MTNL were not ready for it. In any case, I am toying with the idea of filing a second RTI application but my attention is fixated on academics and it would be impossible to keep a track of the same. In case anyone among the readers feels motivated enough, please let me know through feedback on drapuri (at) gmail (dot) com and I would happily guide the way out including help with drafting of the application.

Gujarat Goverment In Association With Gujaratilexicon – Together They Create ‘Bhasha Ni Asha’

Now-a-days the in style argument about newspapers shutting down due to the entrance of another useful medium seems to be catching fire with news flickering from different corners of the world. But I think there’s nothing that online media has to do with the newspapers when it comes to psychological satisfaction of reciting a physical source of information . Secondly, one medium cannot suppress another, so the contention is totally hypothetical.

Re: [Bloggers Collective] Re: The nanny state, or How the Mumbai Cyber Crime Cell and CERT are ‘protecting’ the city

Well, the fact that we do have some fanatics who just wait for ‘inflammatory comments’ to show their true colours, this so-called ‘crime cell’ seems like a good idea executed horribly. Let’s be practical here, unless people realise that a mere comment is just a comment, we can’t really expect society to accept freedom of speech in its totality

Don’t even think of Social Networking here!

That may sound a bit rude but as we have stated before, Mobshare is not a place for you to ‘Make new friends’, there are N number of other places that lets you do that, albeit, in a much better way. We are here to help you stay in touch with your existing closest circle of offline or rather ‘REAL’ friends with the help of your Mobile Phones! Towards this goal, we recently removed the FRIENDS feature, which we thought was a bit misleading to new users

Thankyou Adobe for showering some of your love to us Linux users I tried out the Alpha on Archlinux . It was working great with much more stability and lesser CPU usage, but unfortunately, it crashes Firefox for me, when i open Gmail
