To be honest, I have never been a fan of “netbooks”; I’d rather root in for a decent smartphone. Unfortunately, the market is limited for a “low end high specifications” smart phone although I have been eying Samsung’s Galaxy 3 for a possible upgrade soon.

An interesting Facebook page recently came to our attention, dedicated to the proposition that one can literally “stop human trafficking” by using eBay’s “family friendly” classifieds instead of craigslist . eBay touts the advanced filtering technologies eBay employs to “make sure all of our categories and content are family-friendly,” technologies it no doubt applies to the “broader eBay Classifieds family including Gumtree, Marktplaats, Mobile.de and Loquo, which extends the reach of eBay Classifieds to more than 20 countries.” As a practical example of eBay’s “advanced filtering” and “family friendly” classifieds, we’ve been shown some ads currently live on eBay’s Loquo.com classifieds site, which features thousands of paid ads offering various sexual acts in exchange for money (NSFW).

I’ve been talking with each speaker for the Festival of Change , bouncing ideas around, discussing what we’ll cover in their call, and getting to the point where – never mind the whole running-an-event, selling-tickets thing – I’m really looking forward to this just for what I can learn from these people. Anyway… I’ve tried to give the Festival the shape of a reading, or of any experience of connection (as the event isn’t just for people familiar with an oracle), such as perceiving synchronicity or interpreting a dream. The idea is that as we travel through this structure, it opens up a space where each participant can have that experience of connection, rather than just listening to a bunch of theory about it.
