Rediff FY09-10 Results: Revenues Decline 7.59 Mil $; Net Loss of 7.97 Mil $

Last financial year seems to have not gone down well with India’s largest online portal. Rediff.com has reported reported a net loss of $7.97 million for the year ended March 31, 2010. Though if you compare it to last year then it paints a picture that’s getting better as last year Rediff had netted a loss of $11.26 million

An anonymous blogger critical of Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett plans to challenge a grand jury subpoena ordering Twitter to reveal the blogger’s identity. “It doesn’t really matter why we are criticizing him,” said ”Signor Ferrari,” one of the two Twitter users targeted in the subpoena from Corbett, who won the Republican gubernatorial primary Tuesday. ”It’s our First Amendment right to criticize him no matter who we are,” Signor Ferrari said in a telephone interview Wednesday. Touchnote inks global deal with Sony Ericsson for postcard app

Touchnote , the mobile app startup which allows you to snap a picture and send it to someone as a physical postcard, has signed a non-exclusive deal with Sony Ericsson which will see it distributed on SE handsets on a global basis. The deal means the Touchnote-branded app will appear on SE’s Android and Symbian handsets and integrated into the camera and gallery. On first use users will get offered free product to whet their appetite.

Android knocks WinMo into fourth place according to stats

Smartphone sales have continued to explode with analyst firm Gartner reporting an almost 50% increase in the first quarter of 2010. Carolina Milanesi, research vice president at Gartner, also states that.. “Android’s momentum continued into the first quarter of 2010, particularly in North America, where sales of Android-based phones increased 707% year-on-year.” Microsoft took a beating, with Android outperforming the Windows Mobile OS and pushing it into fourth place for the first time.

Goa industry mulls conveyor belts to transport ore

Mining industries in Goa are mulling the possibility of setting up a network of conveyor belts to transport ore from the mining pits to the port from where it is exported, an industry insider said Wednesday. Secretary of the Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association (GMOEA) Glen Kalavampara said a string of conveyor belts may be the answer to increasing pollution and accidents, which occur as a result of transporting ore by trucks from extraction sites in the hinterland to shipping points along the coast.
